Andrew: It's with great pleasure that I introduce to you a wondrous winsome woman that is blessing the world with her prepossessing pulchritude named Sophia. She has taken the time out of her very busy modeling career to do this interview with yours truly and I appreciate that. On behalf of the Pulp Magazine family whom work extremely hard to bring our loyal readers the very best in informative and entertaining content, I'm very delighted to have you Sophia and I'm very excited to interview you! I hope that this interview will be the first of many with us and other magazines during your truly illustrious career. So without further adieu let us get this interview started!

Sophia: Hey Andrew, first I would like to say thank you very much for this opportunity it's a pleasure this is my first experience in a magazine.

Andrew: No great journey toward our desired destination in life is accomplished solely by ourselves, so talk a bit about the people in your life who have and continue to support you throughout your illustrious career, and as you continue to make your indelible mark on the sands of time.

Sophia: Well I am someone who believes my past and present make me the person I am today. I put my faith in God and believe my future is guided by Him, but making the right choices are in my hands. My family and friends, people who support me, and people who did not, all inspire me to keep going. My brother Dave has always supported everything I do, and given me guidance and advice all my life. My best friend "Busca" has also been there for me in all that I pursue like exploring this new-found career in modeling. My best friend "Ges" opened my eyes to modeling, and together we went to auditions, shoots, and opportunities that came along for us.

Andrew: How and why did you get into the entertainment industry and what is it about it that captivates your mind and stimulates your creative imagination.

Sophia: I got into the entertainment industry, through the stage. I loved to sing since I was a child. I grew confidence from school and community center talent shows, and my teacher Ola of six years. In the past 2 years I started exploring a path into modeling. Modeling stimulates my creativity, because it is constant improvisation, and learning over time what works for you visually, and also expressions involve a lot of creativity. Any career is an ongoing learning experience. What captivates me is the beauty of how photography captures a model?s inner beauty, and emotion. Working with people who are here because they love their job.

Andrew: Being convinced to pursue a career in modeling is one thing, but actually believing that you possess the requisite talent, focus and drive to succeed in a very tough, unforgiving business is quite another. When did you actually believe that you possessed the requisite intangible qualities and characteristics to make it in the entertainment industry as a model?

Sophia: I have been advised to take modeling before, but I had my doubts about the industry, finances, and how far it would get me, and my parents had theirs. Only recently in the past two years have I gained a better attitude. I am young and life is short, I would rather try new things in life and fail than fail to try at all. This business can be unforgiving and some may turn you down, but life is not about the people who push you down, it's about making the choice to get back up. You have to believe in yourself and have faith.

Andrew: What experience do you value more and attain more personal satisfaction from as a model: the creative process behind an intimate collaboration with a talented photographer, make-up artist and/or designer OR seeing the reaction from your family, friends and fans as they bare witness to the finished product?

Sophia: I like the reactions, honest criticisms help me grow and compliments mean I am doing it right, but I would have to say the collaboration with the photographer is most important. A photo shoot can be a very personal experience, you must feel comfortable with the photographer for them to capture your beauty and personality. Being comfortable is also important, because your appearance is being photographed, whether you are in jeans and a sweater or less, your body and face are the main focus. I love when I can laugh, and have meaningful conversations with a photographer, this is not "just business", this is about interaction and bringing out one's personality in their photos.

Andrew: Wayne W. Dyer is quoted as saying, "When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way." As you dance your way through the entertainment industry, what has been some of the steps that you enjoyed along the way thus far?

Sophia: I agree it is not about where you are going or where you will end up but that you enjoy the journey. You need to have a love for any path, or career you choose to take. This journey has been very enjoyable, like the creativity process behind each project, the vision behind every project that makes it different from the one before. I also enjoy meeting new people, who make the experience worthwhile.

Andrew: You have one of the most refined, sensually stunning physiques Sophia that I've seen that evokes comely class that is always accentuated by your artistic poses within your prepossessing photographs, so I'm curious to know what does your diet and exercise regimen consist of?

Sophia: Wow, thank you very much I am shy with words lol. Well, I was always skinny as a kid. I use to work out a few times a week when I was in highschool, but I do not have as much time anymore. Surprisingly my favorite dinner dish is french fries. I have a habit of eating fast food when I'm in a rush and did I mention I love fries lol. I try to eat healthy, but it is so hard sometimes when I am always on the go. I try to eat at Portuguese bakeries when I can, and at Rich Tree. My late grandfather had diabetes and once said "Life is not about watching what you eat, and putting restrictions on yourself, life is too short, I want to eat what I want while I can. I deserve the sweets in life!" I try to eat healthy, but I never restrict what I eat, or how much, I eat a lot I would never go on a diet, I would be a stick lol.

Andrew: Why do you think that some models enter the entertainment industry, attain their 15 minutes of fame and than vanish without a trace, but others such as world renowned models like Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Kimora Lee, and lesser known models such as Kim Loan and Dawn Rochelle are capable of transforming their early success as a model into a long lasting, successful career within the entertainment industry as business women?

Sophia: I think this industry (and anyone) can see when people are in things for the money. People are not as good to work with when they don't have a passion for their career, or for all the wrong reasons. People don't want to work with people who are stuck up or have a bad attitude; it is not always about talent, but more so how you work with others and your personality. I hear about success stories in the music and modeling industry and all of the people who become successful had an amazing drive. Anything you are serious about pursuing needs a serious drive behind it.

Andrew: Do you place any limitations on yourself in terms of what you will and will not do in this industry to succeed, or do you have a "by any means necessary I will get mine in the 21st century" attitude?

Sophia: I will do what I can to kick the door down in this industry but I will not compromise my integrity, and my image. I have done bikini and lingerie before, I am open- minded to a point. It is not that I am not comfortable in my skin, but that I personally do not think it is something to display to the world. I do not limit myself with food lol, but this is very different. I will not do nude or implied nude, those are my professional limitations. My pallet of work right now is not open to that at all.

Andrew: Do you think that the emerging online communication networks out there such as myspace.com, onemodelplace.com, and modelmayhem.com have enabled entrepreneurial minded models such as yourself to effectively market yourself and as a result replace modeling agencies?

Sophia: I have onemodelplace.com and modelmayhem.com and I find networking in this millennium is very helpful for all businesses. I even tried finding a car on the facebook marketplace lol. I still think "reputable" agencies are great, but networking is right up there now with technology.

Andrew: If I was accompanying you to a photo shoot from Toronto to New York City, what albums would I definitely be listening to in the car on the trip there?

Sophia: I love all types of music. I have over 150 albums from HMV. Off the top of my head right now I would say: Brandy's Never Say Never album, Tupac's Greatest Hits album, Reggae Gold 2007, and Christina Aguilar's Stripped album.

Andrew: My no limit credit card slips out of my pocket and magically appears in your hands as I finish this interview with you; what do you buy before I find out that it's missing?!!! [I know in real life you would have returned my card!]

Sophia: I would return it right away, but hypothetically umm
a nice car.

Andrew: What is your ideal exotic getaway?

Sophia: I have never been to the Azores, because my family is from continent. I would go to the island Flores, it is suppose to be an island full of flowers that can be found no where else in the world unless you take a seed, but they originate there. It sounds really beautiful.

Andrew: What sort of qualities in a man do you look for and really turn you on?

Sophia: Well I am taking time for myself right now but if I was looking, I would look for a NICE guy. Looks can only get so far when you are old and grey, with that said I go for personality and someone who can hold an interesting conversation. A funny guy who is fun to be around. If I had to say what turns me on in a nice guy style- wise I would say someone who can pull off an urban look. Have you ever seen "Step Up" lol?

Andrew: What is your favorite food?

Sophia: It's a tie between French fries and strawberries

Andrew: Name one of your addictions? (Something that you can't do without)

Sophia: MUSIC

Andrew: What is your favorite word to cuss with when you're really upset?

Sophia: I try not to swear but I can be caught saying the "f" word. I never use it directly to someone though.

Andrew: What is your favorite part of the female and male anatomy?

Sophia: Eyes, I think someone's eyes or look tells you a lot, I don't mean colour but "look". You can read someone's emotions like a book.

Andrew: If you were a super heroine what super powers would you want: super speed, super strength, X-ray vision, invisibility, the ability to read minds or the ability to fly?!

Sophia: I would say mind, but then what if it's things I'd rather not hear lol. I would love to fly, to go anywhere I want fast, travel overseas all around the world. It would be the ultimate experience.

Andrew: What is your favorite column or feature in Pulp Magazine?

Sophia: I like the model section because I have a respect for models and the work they do, but that may be bias so I would say the articles section. They provide insightful opinions and tips here and there.

Andrew: What does sex appeal and beauty mean to you? Is it a state of mind and attitude (mental/intellectual), physical perfection as defined by society or being born with the right set of physical attributes that get the teenage boys' hormones into a frenzy?

Sophia: Definitely a state of mind and attitude. I think the most beautiful thing about someone is their inner beauty; looks are deceiving and not a good insight into someone's personality. That is why I love how your magazine interviews their models people can get to know their inner beauty, not just the physical

Andrew: What is beautiful about yourself?

Sophia: Everyone tells me it is my kindness and intelligence, I am flattered by such remarks because they are good qualities. I agree that I am intelligent in general, but I'm horrible at math for example lol. As for kindness I am a very helpful person to others, but I am not a push over.

Andrew: If you had to change one thing about yourself what would it be?

Sophia: My schedule. I wish I had more time for my close friends, I've been very busy lately. But you mean my appearance lol, honestly my dad has always lectured me about natural beauty, and I agree. I am grateful for what I have we all have imperfections here and there but I'm happy with a bill of good health.

Andrew: For all of the people, photographers, agencies and companies seeing you for the first time who will want to gain more information about you, tell them where they can go to see and read about some of your past, present and future projects?

Andrew: William Faulkner is quoted as saying, "The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life. Since man is mortal, the only immortality possible for him is to leave something behind him that is immortal since it will always move." When your profoundly beautiful pictures move again in the mind's eye of people a hundred years later Sophia, what do you think they'll say?

Sophia: It is true, photography is all about capturing life and emotion, and it will last forever. When I am older I will show some pictures to my kids, my grandkids. I will look back and have a priceless memory of when I was younger, and physically more in shape. After I pass I hope they will say, she was beautiful.

Andrew: Are there any other exciting projects that you will be working on that you want to tell our readers about and/or anyone that you want to thank?

Sophia: I am going to be with Performance Auto and Sound Magazine at their booth for Total Sport Compact, I am going to be on the "Ménage" club flyer soon and you can check me out there on Fridays, and I have been talking to a modeling team I really hope to work with. I would like to thank anyone who has supported me, and business- wise anyone who has given me the opportunity in modeling.

Andrew: Thank you Sophia for doing this interview with Pulp Magazine and I! We wish you all of the best in your future endeavors, look forward to hearing about your success in the media as a super-talented model, and we would love to have you back anytime!

Sophia: It was a pleasure. Thank you so much for the interview, and the experience I will be taking with me. Keep up the great work Pulp Magazine!
