The year is 1977, a rare sound is emerging in the Canadian music
scene, that embraces heavy vocals, guitar, dub and bass, with a
style that gives homage to the original jamaican reggae masters
of the past and it is called the Canadian reggae scene. In the
late seventies it was a groundbreaking time especially with the
marriage of reggae and punk music to larger audiences internationally.
The house band/ group Earth, roots and water was formed in the
mid seventies. The Band included Adrian "homer" Miller(vocals),
Anthony "base" Hibbert(bass), Colin "zuba" Suban
(drums), Matt Shelly(guitar), and Tony "kb" Moore (keyboards).
This mega album titled Innocent Youths was produced at the infamous
Jerry Browns studio in Malton, Ontario, called Summer Sounds. This
studio has been graced by many famous Jamaican musicians within
the years including Jackie Mittoo, Johnny Osbourne and King Jammy's
to name a few. The band in its short time has opened for the likes
of The Police and The Stranglers in Toronto. I want to celebrate
there first reissue of this Canadian gem cd by Earth, roots and
water's only album that is on the label Lights in the attic, the
same great label that released Jamaica to Toronto last year.
Pick up this great cd at any chapters or download it from itunes.......my
personal favourite track is tribulations.
